Introduction

This interactive workshop is designed to introduce you to a number of different models for planning (eg input and output planning) along with the critical considerations for each. It will also discuss the importance of the golden thread ensuring that there is a link from organisation or corporate plans, through service area plans, right down to individual performance measures. This ensures that staff are incentivised to plan on a basis that is consistent with the organisation’s priorities. It also covers various budgeting models and then how to ensure you deliver against those budgets and what to do if things go wrong. The workshop allows you the opportunity to try out budgeting models in a safe environment so that you can adapt and use them for the specific circumstances in your own organisation.

At the end of this workshop you will:

    • have practical models you can take back to your organisation;
    • be equipped to produce corporate and service area plans in a variety of ways dependent on what public sector outcomes they are trying to achieve;
    • understand the importance of the golden thread;
    • have been introduced to incremental and zero based budgeting and when they are appropriate in the public sector;
    • be able to help colleagues manage in year against their budgets both operationally and financially.

Venue

Our seminars take place in 4 star professional conference facilities, generally in city-centre hotels like the Marriott, Sheraton or Hilton brands. Detailed Joining Instructions are sent to all registered delegates by email approximately one month before the event.
