US GAAP Online Course FAQs

General Questions

Expand/Collapse all
What are the system requirements?

Our courses are designed to work well on any device, so you can study using your PC, tablet or mobile phone.

Can I study offline? I don’t have good internet access.

We have designed our courses to work well even in situations when you have limited internet access. We have achieved this by not including videos, audio, large documents, etc which would normally demand a lot of bandwidth. If you need to study offline, you can download the eNotes in PDF or ePub format*. These notes contain all the text from the lessons but do not include the interactive questions.

*ePub is an e-book file format with the extension .epub that can be downloaded and read on devices like smartphones, tablets, computers, or e-readers.

Will I receive a CPE certificate?

If you pass the required final exam(s) within one year of enrolling on the instructor-supported course or self-study module, with a minimum score of 70%, you will be issued with a Certificate of Course Completion. Our online instructor-supported courses and self-study modules generally meet the requirements for professional education training credits (PD, CPD, CPE) from institutes around the world. If in any doubt, please check with your profession institution.

Can I use my IASeminars Learning Passport for an online course?

Yes, online courses may be taken on your passport, (max 1 concurrent course at any given time), and multiple online courses may be taken consecutively with the IASeminars Learning Passport.

US GAAP Essentials (Instructor-supported)

Expand/Collapse all
How long does the US GAAP Essentials instructor-supported course take to complete?

We anticipate that students will need to study for at least 24 hours during a 30-day online course

Do I have to study every day?

Throughout the course duration, you can study at any time you wish, there is no requirement to be online at specific times. The classes might have participants across many time zones, so we never set an exact time for anyone to be online.

I’m enrolled on the instructor-supported US GAAP Essentials course. What contact will I have with the instructor?

You can use the “Ask the instructor” discussion forum on your course to contact your tutor who will aim to respond to your question within 2 working days. Your instructor will also log on regularly to monitor your progress and reach out to you if you are falling behind with the course schedule.

Will I need to take any exams on the instructor-supported US GAAP Essentials course?

This course consists of 11 modules. At the end of each module there's a final quiz to test your understanding of the topic covered. You need to pass all 11 final quizzes with a minimum score of 70% to get a Certificate of Course Completion. You can have unlimited attempts at taking each exam. Each module also has a practice quiz which you can take as many times as you like to prepare you for the final quiz.

I’m worried that I won’t be able to finish the US GAAP Essentials instructor-supported course within the designated 30 days. Can you give me an extension if I need it?

You will get the most from the course if you keep up with the pace and complete all 11 modules that make up the course in 30 days. However, we do recognise it's sometimes difficult to meet deadlines: you may be busy at work, have family commitments, or the time needed is simply greater than estimated. Once the 30-day period with the instructor has passed, you will continue to have access to the course to enable you to complete them at your own pace. You will have up to a year, if necessary, to pass the exams on each module and gain your course completion certificate.

How long will I have access to the course for?

You will have access to the final exams in your module(s) for 1 year from the start date of the course. After the one-year cut-off time, you won’t be able to take the exams and receive a certificate, but you will continue to have full access to the rest of the course, which includes lessons, supplementary files and practice quiz questions. You will not have access to subsequent updates made to later versions of the course. We reserve the right to close a course if it has not been accessed for over a year.
