Course 1999: Overview of International Auditing Standards (3 days)

Duration: 3 days

This three-day course provides a comprehensive review of the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) issued by the International Auditing and Assurances Standards Board (IAASB).

In addition, the course provides an overview of the IFAC Ethical Standards, compliance with which is a requirement of the ISAs.

The course also covers International Standard on Quality Control 1 (ISQC 1), Quality Control for Firms That Perform Audits and Reviews of Financial Statements, and Other Assurance and Related Services Engagements.

The course is based on the ISAs effective for periods commencing on or after 15th December 2009.

These ISAs, which are the result of the IAASB clarity project, are expected to result in a significant increase in audit work for auditors.

This course will consider the objectives and requirements of each ISA, together with the detailed application material. The course will also provide practical approaches designed to assist cost effective compliance.

Through the use of case studies and exercises the topics covered in this course include:

Introduction
ISA 200 – Overall objectives of the independent auditor and the conduct of an audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing

Quality control (ISA 220 and ISQC 1)

La NIC 39 (Instrumentos Financieros: Reconocimiento y Medición) es una de las normas más extensas y complejas emitidas por el IASB. A pesar de la guía de implementación del IASB, la aplicación práctica de la NIC 39 plantea muchos desafíos. Existen diversas prácticas contables entre empresas de la industria extractiva en todo el mundo. El IASB ha encargado un proyecto de investigación para examinar las prácticas de contabilidad para las actividades extractivas.
Para dar una orientación y una transición para las empresas de la industria extractiva que están adoptando las NIIF, el IASB emitió la NIIF 6 (Exploración y Evaluación de Recursos Minerales) en diciembre de 2004. La norma se aplica a los gastos incurridos en relación con la exploración y evaluación de recursos minerales.
Este curso de tres días resume los requisitos de contabilidad y revelación de la NIIF 6, y en el se analiza la situación actual del trabajo del IASB sobre la contabilidad para las actividades extractivas. También se le da cobertura en profundidad a las normas contables claves que afectan a la industria, como las normas NIIF por deterioro de activos, el reconocimiento y valoración de activos, la revaluación de ciertos activos calificados, los costos de desmantelamiento y restauración del lugar, lo que representa para las reservas, las revelaciones, y contabilidad de cobertura.
